PHMSA MEGA RULE
We assist pipeline customers in every aspect of the regulation. Our range of non-destructive testing (NDT) inspection services is well-equipped to fulfill the three-factor requirements, and our exceptional safety management teams collaborate with our technicians to ensure compliance with all relevant standards. The energy sector must ensure full compliance with operational requirements. The new rule covers various aspects of the midstream process to guarantee personnel safety and the environment. It can be divided into three sections:
-
Operators are required to thoroughly test all pipelines to determine the Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP) and keep detailed records for verification. In addition, there are new regulations regarding the frequency of sampling and testing.
-
Furthermore, there are now updated repair guidelines for both High Consequence Areas (HCAs) and non-HCAs. Operators must inspect pipelines within 72 hours after extreme weather conditions. Regular pipeline integrity management is also mandatory. Leak detection systems should be enhanced to accommodate inline inspection tools.
-
The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) now possesses greater authority to issue emergency orders in the event of unsafe conditions or faulty pipe components. Pipeline operators need to be well-versed in pipeline safety threats, HCAs, and Moderate Consequence Areas (MCAs).
In addition to experience, our inspectors are highly trained and hold various industry Operator Qualifications (OQ’s), NDT Level II’s and Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certifications. Our experts will:
