OVERVIEW:

Loenbro was entrusted by a key contributor in the U.S. power generation sector to construct a critical Dewatering & Loadout Facility in Colstrip, Montana. Demonstrating our comprehensive service offerings, our multi-disciplinary crews—encompassing concrete, structural steel, mechanical, and electrical scopes—expertly executed all facets of this complex facility. This project involved placing 2700 cu yd of structural concrete, the erection of over 800 tons of structural steel for two new buildings, and the installation of all mechanical & electrical systems, showcasing our ability to deliver a full suite of solutions. A significant element of the project included the precision placement and erection of 4 100,000lb GHT 2000 filter presses on the fifth floor of the Dewatering Building, each discharged into four reversible conveyors. This project is a testament to Loenbro’s ability to seamlessly integrate diverse service lines and deliver large-scale, intricate projects within the power generation industry.

CHALLENGE:

  • Limitations on concrete supply due to the output of local batch plant and pouring in remote locations during the winter required high-level pre-planning
  • Supply chain disruptions forced a dynamic ‘as-built’ steel erection, adapting to fluctuating material deliveries and integrating delayed owner-supplied conveyors

SOLUTION:

  • Our daily communication and out-of-the-box approach allowed steel workers to proceed.
  • With the delay of supplier piping materials, we increased our manpower to meet critical project deadlines.
